That Old Stinky Snake John 10:10
One thing that the devil will always attack you with is "ALL THAT STUFF YOU HAVE LOST - OR NEVER HAD!"
He may encourage you to dwell on things that you used to have and have lost, or were never able to have.
But, the thief cometh not- except to do WHAT? Steal. Kill. Destroy. Who? What?
YOU!
He steals as many opportunities as we might have had to witness a God-fearing Christian family in action. How? Was the family you grew up with close to the Lord? That's one of the big ones. He steals away opportunities for us to hear about the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ - HOW TO BE SAVED.
He steal away other things, too; such as our desire to go to church or learn of Him. How about, "Our ability to cope".
He stole away Eve's perfect life by trying to convince her that she could have had something better.
If the devil can cause you to GIVE IT UP and let it go without a fight, then he doesn't even have to trade for it or sell it to you.
Satan even tried to sell things and make a swap with the Lord Himself.
Now, because of Adam and Eve- and because of how we are- we are born into sin because we have the sin nature, even before we actually do the act. It's our destiny to sin, because that's what we are made of.
But, God sent Jesus and He did everything He had to do to redeem our lost souls. Redeem means, "To buy back".
TO KILL
The devil kills lots of things. He has the power to even kill people, if God allows it. He goes to God and begs for God to let him kill people. Read the book of JOB.
Then, God looks at the person. Have they accepted His Son? Are they doing right by God with their life? Will they ever do right? What will become of their family and loved ones if they were taken out? Could it lead to some good thing? If they are saved, would taking them out prevent them from having to go through some worse thing?
Then God tells him YES or NO.
You see, nothing just "happens". It all has to go through God first.
The devil gets his jollies by causing hardships and death... he's not doing it to help anyone. He's doing it because that's what he likes to do. In some cases, he's only allowed to live because he takes off the work load for God's death angel.
God does allow untimely deaths, but he has a reason for it every time.
God is a pure and holy God of goodness and order. He allows no senseless loss in the lives of those who are truly serving Him well.
Sometimes, death is a relief to one who has served him well, and it would actually be a relief to just go home to glory.
God has a merciful nature. He doesn't like to see His children suffer, but He allows it sometimes so that we can prove ourselves to Him.
God protects the innocent, the young, the weak, and the servant. He always know when to say THAT IS ENOUGH!
If a master got by with killing their servant, or a parent got by with killing their child... (first of all, there's no such thing as getting by with it), but if they succeed, you can rest, assured, that God was allowing it to take the pressure off the poor child or servant.
TO DESTROY
The devil cannot create. If he could, he probably would not do it. So he looks around "seeking whom he may devour". He is not in the business of construction, he is into DE-STRUCTION.
What is satan like, anyway? Let me tell you. His blood is wormwood and scalding acid. His flesh, if you tasted it, would be bitter and bite your lips off. His hearbeat is GO TO HELL...GO TO HELL... and many other curses! His tongue drips with envy and he holds a can of lust, which he likes to spray on anyone he's allowed to spray it on. He has claws that adminitser harm. God calls him a dragon... and not a cute one, either.
He can destroy your dreams. He can take away happiness, pleasure, peace, and he can even HELP YOU FORGET THE BIBLE YOU MEMORIZED!
We must all be on our best guard at all times. How? Just doing right. Paying attention. Praying up. DECIDING TO DO RIGHT NO MATTER WHAT IT COSTS US.
